Sectors

A list of 23 important market sectors to quickly view the overall state of markets.

Indicies

Indicies bar chart, displaying % gain/loss from previous close on 5 major Equity Indexes

Intra Index Divergence gauge measures the total disparity in index pricing. A healthy market sees all indexes with a low divergence reading, therefore markets are all moving together. An unhealthy condition is seen when there is 1% or more divergence between major indexes, often marking indecision or a trend change forthcoming.

Chart of the Total Market Fund, a broad measure of Index strength/weakness and direction

Market Map

A Market Heatmap showing live market internals readings for a number of major exchanges and indexes, as well and bonda and volatility. Probably the best one page look at market strength/health on the web

Trend

Trend Page refers to the Trend of Internals, not Equities directly

Day Type Indicator. A unique indicator to Datatraderpro. Day Type measures the performance of a basket of key market internals for the initial 45 minutes of trade from market open, then evaluates the thrust of these indicators in terms of time and percentage to provide an early call on what type of trading to expect that day. Result posted at 10:15am

SP500 Daily Range. A measure of the total range traded in the SP500. A narrow range day generally provides few trading opportunities.

DTP $ Weighted Buying Pressure. An oscillator measuring $ weighted volume across a large basket of stocks across 3 major indexes

DTP MacClellan Intraday. Our version of the McClellan Oscillator which covers more than just the NYSE exchange, and optimised for intraday trading

DTP Net Issues. A measure of the net gain or loss of DTP’s own basket of issues from a number of exchanges

DTP Net Volume. A measure of the net volume of DTP’s own basket of issues from a number of exchanges

Breadth

For gauge ranges, Green is Bullish for Equities, Red is Bearish for Equities, Grey is Neutral

Each row of gauges contains a Volume Delineator, an Advance Decline Delineator, and a Trin/Arms Index Gauge related to that particular exchange

The DTP Volume Delineator is our own calculation of the net buying or selling of all issues in an index.

The DTP Advance Decline Delineator is a smoothed ratio measurement of the advancing issues to the declining issues within that index.

The TRIN Index is a measurement created by Richard Arms. It is a common Breadth measurement known to traders, and is particularly useful at daily extremes. For intraday changes in the market breadth, refer to the Volume and A/D gauges.

Trade in the direction of bullish or bearish market internals, avoid placing trades when readings are neutral

Volatility

For gauge ranges, Green is Bullish for volatility, Red is Bearish for volatility.

Top row of gauges display current levels of 3 major volatility indexes, and the white arrows display daily high and low readings.

Second row of gauges display daily percent change (from previous close).

The horizontal linear gauges measure the volatility of volatility index and contango or backwardation in the front to near month VX futures.

To use this page effectively, note that Volatility usually trends inverse of the SPX index. If SPX is up, Volatility is usually down.

The faster reacting Short Term Volatility will change trend earlier than the standard 30 day index, and that will in turn change faster than Mid Term Volatility.

For a strong move up in Volatility, look for positive readings in all 3 of the % gauges, as well as confirmation from a positive reading in volatility of volatility, otherwise a short volatility/long SPX position is preferable

TICK Net Ticks Linear Gauge showing immediate buying or selling pressure on the index stocks.

The Advance Decline Delineator is a smoothed ratio measurement of the advancing issues to the declining issues within the stocks of the related Index.

The Volume Delineator is our own calculation of the net buying or selling of all issues in the Index.

The Arrows will point in the direction of trade when all 3 round gauges are in alignment, either above or below zero readings, otherwise neutral

On the gauge ranges, red is bearish for the Index, green is bullish and grey is neutral.

Trade in the direction of bullish or bearish market internals, avoid placing trades when readings are neutral
